We’ve visited Amsterdam several times now, and one of the things we’re continually delighted with on each visit is the sheer range of eating places on offer. There is something to satisfy practically everyone’s stomachs.
We like to think of Amsterdam being a very cosmopolitan city, and that’s reflected in its range of restaurants, bars and cafes. You can enjoy a different sort of food all day and still return to your hotel accommodation with more variety to look forward to the day after.
Amsterdam caters for many nationalities’ specialities: Chinese, Italian, Mexican, Spanish, Thai, and African, to name a few. It also provides for you whether you want a meal on the run, or walk, as you stroll around the city; or if you want something longer and more restful. If you’re a vegetarian, you’ll have a good range of choice before you. There are also restaurants to suit every budget, from the cheap and cheerful to the exclusive and fanciful. And if you feel like a snack between meals, there are cafes for elevenses, bars for that pre-dinner drink, tea-shops for afternoon tea, and food to keep you going into the wee small hours.
In addition, we’ve never had a bad meal in the city, and we’ve always found the service to be excellent, whether we’ve eaten in our hotel or out of it.
My advice if you’re heading to Amsterdam? Take clothes with elasticated waists. It’s the last place you want to feel uncomfortable as you sit down to spend time choosing over another mouth-watering menu! We only go for a long weekend and my waist is always larger when I come home than when I left it!
